I hadn't seen my sister or my brother and his family for over a year and I hadn't seen my extended family for even longer so it was a treat to be together for a few days. Upon arrival to State College, PA (we were basically on the college campus of Penn State in Happy Valley) we all had dinner and relaxed in an outdoor restaurant near our hotel.
The next day a big lunch was planned to honor the 100th birthday of Uncle Milt. The lunch was held at this cool restaurant called the Gamble Mill Inn which really used to be a working mill. The food was awesome - my sister was really excited because she ordered the 'mussel pot' and they were really good.
My brother, Ben, is married to Allison and they live in North Carolina with their two adorable little girls, Hannah (7) and Sophia (3). They were super cute to be around and play with. Sophia has this gorgeous hair that is so blond it is almost white. If she were in China she would be mobbed with incredulous people who would want to touch it and take pictures of her.
I also really enjoyed talking with my cousin, Amy (25) who has a really fun and full inspiring life. Currently she is training for the Leadville 100 mile ultramarathon - she completed her first 50 mile race last year in Alaska. She is also a writer and worked as an editor for a newspaper in Alaska last year. During the winter she is a ski bum and when she is not giving lessons at Jackson Hole she is telemark skiing in the backcountry. You can check out her blog if you want to read more about how training is going. I think this picture is funny because everyone thought we looked alike. Sean and I still get asked if we are brother and sister but I don't really think we bear any family resemblance.
Is Amy single?
