There are more places along the lake shore that I like to visit besides the paradise of Holland and one of those is the small, artsy town of Saugatuck.
Saugatuck is a tiny town that these days seems mostly occupied by summer tourists from Chicago. It's full of art galleries, ice cream and fudge shops, and lots of restaurants and bars with loads of outdoor seating right on the lake.
Saugatuck is only about 10 minutes from my house so my south side Holland friends and I head out there quite a bit. The last day my sister was here Al, Misha, Sue and I went to Saugatuck for dinner at The Mermaid, a stroll around down town and Dole Whip ice cream.
When we got back, Dad made us a bonfire in the backyard. It was a day of perfect weather and the warm and breezy night made the bonfire pretty spectacular. Thanks again to Al for the awesome pictures of today!
