When we ran some errands on our days off, I bought some pretty exciting stuff that has made housekeeping go a little smoother. These items include: black supportive sneakers, a Duramitt, heavy duty rubber gloves and a black belt. With comfy feet, hands unexposed to harsh chemicals and pants that don't fall down, my first day back went quite well.
My favorite purchase was the Duramitt. I had never seen one before and as soon as I saw it in the hardware store I knew I had to have it. It is basically a yellow rubber glove with a rough green sponge permanently attached to it. It's awesome and, like the marketing slogan says, "It's always on hand when you need it" (pun intended, I'm guessing). The packaging also boasted of other advantages such as, "No need to grasp cleaning pad, ergonomically correct design and easy to use." I can affirm that all of this is true and I have a feeling that when the other housekeepers see me using it, they are going to want one too. No more cheap latex gloves and grubby-old-falling-apart sponges for me!
I also bought a dry erase board and some markers as the private teaching biz is picking up. So much so, in fact, that Sean saw the full day horse ride advertised on BookMe (a Groupon-like site) for half price on my day off (!) and I get to do it on Friday! I am beyond excited. You have no idea.
